About the Campaign:

The Vega Brothers Bodega goal is to bring healthier options to the community, but they find it difficult to get resources. The Bodega Makeover team planned to do the renovations in April 2020 and had to stop construction/production due to COVID19.

The pandemic has underscored the disproportionate need and the urgency for accessible and healthy options in our racial and ethnically diverse communities. The Vega family has served in that critical role. We can’t do it alone and need your support!

The funds will be used for labor, materials, and production cost. Any donation over $100 receives a bodega box! The box includes Bustelo Cafe, maria cookies, platano chips, and other snacks.

About: Bodega Makeover, similar to Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Hotel Impossible and This Old House, is a docu-reality web series providing store improvements and healthy eating options for local neighborhoods.

A game changer, I love this project. it is at the intersection of wellness, healthier food options; growing small businesses; benefit to the community and the larger metro area; validating there are possibilities in our neighborhoods, show that people are willing to invest in all parts of the metro area… a woman owned business, show support for a role model woman entrepreneur…

I live in NYC and love our bodegas but I do remember the lack of quality produce and healthy snacks at my neighborhood bodegas when I was a grad student at Columbia University. I am all about equitable access to healthy and quality foods irrespective of location or socioeconomic status. I wish you all the very best in your venture and hope its success encourages others to replicate in their cities!

This project has been popping up in my head for the past year ever since I joined Takeoff Technologies that also believes in hyper-local grocery fulfillment.

Yesterday, we lost a dear member of our Takeoff family, Lucia Brower, to cancer. In Lucia’s honor, I am humbled to donate the last mile to reaching your fundraising goal.

Congratulations on your recent trademark milestone and best of luck!
